Bible Compared To Koran: Differences And Similarities

Bible vs Koran essay sample

Long since the issues of religion have played a vital role for humankind. In a multinational world, it is impossible to say that a particular religion is inherently exclusive for a certain region. The process of intermingling cultures determines the relationship of different religions: both interaction and opposition, differences and similarities. Islam and Christianity are among the most spread religions in the world.

The holy book of Christianity is the Bible, which consists of the Old Testament and the Gospel, as for Islam – the Koran and the Hadith. In these books, differences and similarities are closely intertwined among themselves, therefore, based on similar facts, we can clearly see differences.

The Bible reveals lots of stories. The nature of God, the relationship with God is talked through stories. It`s actually the collection of writings of different authors. It`s supposed that God reveals his word to different groups of people so they can write it down. The Koran also contains similar stories and give some guidance how the story should be understood.

One of Koran vs Bible differences that Muslims believe that the Koran is a word of Allah that was revealed directly from Allah to Muhammad. According to Koran the Bible has been changed and some interpretation was involved. People whom be revealed the original God words can write it in their own interpretation for their benefits. At one hand, the Koran gives a positive statement that we should respect the Bible and original scripts. On the other hand, it cautions that not everything is true and it passed transmissions.

In Koran, there are lot of contradictions like: “love and respect Jews and Christians” and other verses tell about killing them. All the contradictions Muslims justify according to the Naskh – the principle for dealing with contractions in the Koran: “whereby later revelations override earlier ones”.

The Bible says that God is one but the difference between Quran and Bible that the last equates God in three personas – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Koran recognizes that God is one and all-knowing and all-benevolent and don`t have any offspring.

The Nadith is a report of the saying and actions of Muhammad or his companions. So the Koran is words of God and the Nadith is words of Prophet Muhammad, as Gospel about Jesus and apostles. The image of Jesus the Crist in the Koran, in the Nadith, in the teaching of Muhammad is totally different from the biblical Jesus. The Koran represents Jesus as a prophet, son of Mary and he can`t be the son of God. Allah took Jesus to the haven while the Bible compared to Koran insists that Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead for the salvation from sins.

Islam has another point of view about the second coming of Jesus. Muslims believe in the second coming of Jesus but he won`t be Messiah(Mahdi). The description of the end of the world for both religions is similar, but as such a savior will not be. The Koran does not mention Mahdi at all. Traditional Islamic sources signify the arrival of the Mahdi who will lead the order, lead to the path of the Truth and will declare a fight against evil.

Despite all the contradictions, there are the Bible vs Quran similarities as God creates the universe and revealed scripts, which are original and have similar stories and fact we can believe, Jesus was born by a miracle and it will be a doomsday.

It happens that the question “which came first the Bible or the Quran” often pops up. According to only historical facts, the Bible was written in 95 AD and Koran in 600 AD. Actually, no matter what book older, it`s more important that the Bible and Quran side by side guide their followers to the road of truth, faith and love. Each of the books arose in due time and for the conditions in which there was humanity, but they have one great goal to lead people to God and impoverish the divisive souls with the Most High for good, prosperity, and love.
